Cause 1: Credential lines that merge into one blob
Comma-separated credential strings look efficient on paper. RN, BSN, CCRN, ACLS, BLS reads clean to you. Lever often stores it as one token with no separate license field. State boards care about the number. The parser never extracted it.
Icons and badge graphics make it worse. A PNG of your ACLS card is invisible text. The profile shows a gap where the cert should be. Plain text, one credential per line, under a header Lever recognizes: Licenses and Certifications or Certifications.
Cause 2: License tables that parse above Experience
Nursing templates love a three-column table: state, license number, expiration. Tables read left to right, then top to bottom. Lever may dump the whole table into Skills or float it above your first employer. Recruiters scanning for Tenet or HCA on line one see California, Texas, Compact instead.
Multi-state compact licenses need the same treatment. Nurse Licensure Compact, NLC, or multi-state privilege belongs on one plain line with the primary state number, not in a shaded grid next to your clinical summary.
Cause 3: Shift scheduling text that hijacks job titles
Night shift, rotating weekends, 7p to 7a, every other weekend, and PRN availability are not job titles. When they sit on their own lines between employers, Lever pairs them like roles. Your current job can show as Rotating Weekends while the actual Staff Nurse line drops to bullet text.
Per-diem and agency travelers hit this twice. You list three hospital contracts plus a block that says Available for travel contracts, 13-week assignments. The availability line parses as an employer. Fix the stack, not the keywords.

If your top parsed title mentions shifts or weekends
You're in Cause 3. Availability language is sitting in the title stack.
Before: Night Shift 7p to 7a on its own line, then Tenet South, then Staff Nurse.
After: One contact line: Available for night shift and rotating weekends. Tenet South, Dallas, TX. Staff Nurse, ICU | June 2020 to Present. Charge-trained on 24-bed unit; floated to step-down twice monthly.
Fix for Cause 1: Rebuild the credential block as vertical plain text
Registered nurse, Colorado license with compact privilege.
Before: RN, BSN, CCRN, ACLS, NLC Multistate, CO #987654, BLS in one header string.

Credential strings in the contact header. One line with six abbreviations looks tidy. Lever merges it. Fix: dedicated Licenses section, one item per line.
License numbers only in the application form. Many candidates assume the form is enough. Recruiters search the profile first. Repeat the number in the resume body in plain text.
EHR skills in a left rail. Epic, Cerner, and Meditech belong in unit bullets. A rail parses before employers and becomes your top role.
Shift blocks copied from the job posting. Pasting 12-hour night shift, every third weekend from the req into your header stack invites Cause 3. Mirror that language once under Availability, then prove flexibility in a bullet.
Clinical rotation tables in two columns. School templates align rotation site and hours in columns. Lever reads across. Fix: vertical lines with site, unit, hours, and EHR named inline.
Expiration dates without the credential name. 03/2027 alone in a table cell means nothing after parse. Pair every date with the license or cert it belongs to.
Exception: physicians and advanced practice providers with long publication lists can keep Publications as a separate section below Experience. Do not let board certification lines live in a footer the parser skips. Move MD, board certified in internal medicine to the same Licenses block as state medical license numbers.

Upload what the portal accepts, then read the Lever parse preview if you get one. A text-based PDF exported from a single-column Word file usually matches DOCX. Scanned PDFs, Canva exports, and badge photos embedded as images drop license text entirely. If the preview shows blank Licenses or scrambled employers on PDF, re-export DOCX from the same source and compare previews before you submit again.
Not until layout is fixed. If your top parsed role shows BLS instead of Staff Nurse, or your license line attached to Education, adding posting keywords will not repair field pairing.
