Model files fail when stats and reel links hide in images. Type portfolio URL, measurements, and agency line in text, then check your resume for free.

You're not booked for a mood board. A Model Resume Portfolio for ATS needs typed stats, a working portfolio URL, and dated bookings in plain text, not a Canva comp card uploaded as the only resume.

Before you submit to an agency roster or a brand casting site, check your resume for free against the posting. A stunning layout that hides your reel link still parses like an empty file, and you won't get a second upload slot on some portals.

They're not scoring your filter choice. They can't open a portfolio that only exists as a QR code in a header graphic.

So put measurements, union line if applicable, and portfolio URL in text before you list every unpaid test shoot. Instagram isn't a resume section, and coordinators won't dig for stats you didn't type.

Do these three things first

  • Add one line: Portfolio URL, reel link, and agency name in plain text.
  • Move paid bookings into Experience with client category and Month Year dates.
  • Run the posting through the free checker after you strip the two-column comp layout.

What casting importers actually read

Agencies, e-commerce studios, and commercial casting houses all want a different look. They share one filter. Can a coordinator find height, location, portfolio link, and recent paid work in the first screen?

The importer does not read your comp card as art. It extracts text left to right.

Stage is development, signed board model, fit model, commercial print, or influencer with a modeling book. Representation is agency name and contact, or freelance with a clear city base. Proof is booked jobs with client category, not every polaroid.

I've screened talent packets in Greenhouse and custom casting portals, and the model files that die bury height and reel links inside a designed comp card image.

Stats trapped in an image block often never become fields. Height 5'10, bust, waist, hips, and shoe need typed lines when the portal asks for them. A graphic grid parses as noise.

Bookings belong in Experience with Month Year dates. Test shoots can sit as one honest line if unpaid. Paid catalog work with a retailer name is a hiring metric.

Single-column layout is not aesthetic advice for a modeling file. It is how Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, and iCIMS rebuild your timeline. A sidebar that lists portfolio URL often lands below jobs in the scrape, so the proof never ties to dates.

Month Year dates on every role matter more than a clever design. Parsers map July 2024 to Present as current employment. A bare 2024 in a sentence sometimes parses as a skill token, not a job end date.

Headers and footers are where contact info dies. Put phone, email, and city in the body text recruiters can copy. A graphic banner is invisible to most importers.

File name should be boring: Firstname-Lastname-Resume.pdf. A file named Resume-FINAL-v7.pdf still uploads, but recruiters lose you in a download folder when twenty candidates use the same name.

When a posting asks for a cover letter, keep it aligned with the header lines on the resume. Conflicting titles between letter and resume trigger a manual reject faster than a weak bullet.

If you are switching settings, keep the old role dated and honest. A gap with a label beats a merged block that makes two employers look like one messy job.

Skills lists should repeat tools you already used in Experience. A portfolio URL line in Skills without a dated bullet is noise. The bullet is the proof the filter can search.

Upload the same file you tested. Tweaking margins after a clean parse can re-break tables you forgot were still there.

Model Resume Portfolio for ATS layout

Type stats and links the way the portal labels them

Open a single-column DOCX or PDF. Put contact, then a stats block, then Experience.

Copy-paste model header
[Full name] · [City, ST] · willing to travel [Y/N]
Height [x'x"] · [measurements as posting requests] · Shoe [size] · Hair [color] · Eyes [color]
Portfolio: [https URL] · Reel: [https URL] · Digitals: [folder URL if allowed]
Representation: [Agency name] or Freelance · [agency email if represented]

Edge case: Minor talent. Parent or guardian contact line belongs in plain text when the casting notice asks for it. Do not bury age compliance info only in the email thread.

Turn bookings into dated jobs, not a photo dump

E-commerce fit model
Before: Experienced model. Instagram @handle. TFP available. Skills: posing, runway, friendly.
After: Fit Model | Retail Client Category | Remote studio, City ST | March 2025 to Present. Completed 18 SKU sessions with on-set alterations notes returned within 24 hours. Portfolio line lists the same URL as the header.

Commercial print
Before: Comp card PDF only. No dates.
After: Print Model, regional campaign | Agency booking | January 2024 to March 2024. One bullet on usage category the posting names (lifestyle, beauty, fitness).

Judge weak portfolios against what parsers need

The standard is not prettiest book. It is typed proof plus dated work.

Before: Two-column comp card. Stats as a picture. Reel link only in QR.
After: One column. Stats typed. Reel URL repeated in header and footer text. Three booking lines with dates.

Before: Skills: modeling, Photoshop, TikTok.
After: Experience repeats TikTok only if a paid booking required it. Otherwise drop it.

Match commercial, fit, or runway language in the first bullets

Runway postings want walk and show credits as dated lines. Fit postings want client category and alteration notes. Commercial wants usage type without breaking NDA names when you cannot list the brand.

Copy-paste outreach line: Submitting for [casting title] as a [height] [market] model. Portfolio [URL]. Last paid booking [category] [Month Year]. Based in [City, ST].

Align cover copy with the typed header

If the portal allows a letter, mirror stats and links exactly. Use the cover letter generator for structure, then paste the same portfolio URL you tested. Read resume design myths that hurt job seekers before you re-export another two-column comp as a resume.

Run this scrape check before you upload

Open the posting in one tab and your resume in another. Highlight three nouns that repeat in the req. Those nouns belong in your header or the first bullet under your current role, spelled the same way the employer wrote them.

Save a version named with the employer or role. You are not sending twenty unique novels. You are sending one parser-safe base file with the top third adjusted per posting.

After you edit, export PDF and try to select the license, URL, or TMS line with your cursor. If you cannot select it, assume Workday cannot read it either.

Keep a master DOCX without tables. PDF exports for upload only. Tables you add for spacing often reappear as scrambled jobs on import.

If the portal offers a plain text paste box, paste the same words that appear in the PDF header. Mismatches between paste and upload cause duplicate profiles that look like errors.

Date every gap longer than six weeks with a label you can defend on a phone screen. Training, travel, visa processing, and family leave each get one honest line with Month Year bounds.

Do not move Education above Experience unless you truly have no paid or clinical role to show. Students and fellows still lead with the role that produces the work the posting buys.

Repeat each critical token twice: once in the header, once in a bullet. License numbers, portfolio URLs, demo links, and TMS names all benefit from the duplicate without keyword stuffing adjectives.

Strip icons that replace words. LinkedIn, Instagram, and Linktree logos in place of URLs are invisible to most scrapers.

When a friend reads your top third in ten seconds, they should answer where you work now, what credential or link proves it, and what setting you serve. If they cannot, the parser will not do better.

Read the uploaded preview if the employer shows one. Some portals display the scraped jobs list. If your current role is missing, fix dates before you send another application.

Bold one line per major section. The line should be the rule you want remembered, not the keyword phrase itself.

Keep pronouns consistent. Third-person summaries about yourself read like someone else wrote the file. Write as you, with contractions, in bullets.

If you use an acronym, spell it once in the same bullet. HR readers and parsers both benefit from the first expansion.

Avoid stacking three adjectives before a verb. One verb, one object, one proof detail is enough for a screening pass.

Print the PDF once. Margins that clip the last digit of a license number happen more often than people admit.

When you finish, search the file for the word responsible. Rewrite those bullets with a verb that names the work product.

Agency submission PDFs sometimes strip hyperlinks. Repeat the portfolio URL as visible https text in the body even if the PDF also embeds a link.

When a casting notice caps resume length, cut oldest unpaid tests first. Keep three recent paid lines with dates.

Market list belongs in text when you split time between cities. New York and Miami bases need honest months if you rotate.

Digitals folders should use the same URL in the header and in the form field. Coordinators notice when the PDF says one link and the profile says another.

Fit modeling wants client category language when NDAs block names. Say national apparel retailer or beauty brand category instead of inventing a logo.

Runway credits need show type and season in the date line. Commercial bookings need usage category. Do not merge them into one undated block.

Mother agency and mother agent lines confuse importers. Follow the agency's submission sheet for how they want representation typed.

Travel willingness belongs as Y or N in text when the casting notice filters on it. Maybe in a sidebar does not parse.

TFP shoots belong in a separate subsection or one honest unpaid line. Do not label them as campaigns.

When stats change, update every copy you keep. Old comp cards floating in email threads cause mismatches on set.

E-commerce studios often ask for shoe, height, and hip in separate fields. Mirror their field labels in the resume header even if it feels redundant.

Comp card traps that blank a profile

Uploading only a designed comp card as the resume. Treat the comp as a separate attachment when allowed. The resume itself should be text-first.

Broken portfolio links. Test the URL in an incognito window before Apply.

Missing city base. Casting coordinators filter on location tokens.

Unpaid tests listed like campaigns. Label test shoots honestly.

Union line omitted when the notice asks. Type SAG-AFTRA or non-union per your status. Do not guess eligibility rules you have not confirmed.

Run the parser before the polish pass

Upload the text resume you will submit and check your resume for free against the casting copy. Fix links and stats before you attach digitals.

If a letter is optional, keep it to stats plus one booking proof. Use the cover letter generator, then verify the portfolio URL matches the header.

Fix the header tonight

Book and stats still matter. They do not parse from a graphic alone.

Type the header. Date the bookings. Paste the same portfolio URL everywhere the form asks.

Pair this with Workday resume format that parses cleanly when the brand routes through corporate HR.

Frequently asked questions

Put measurements on typed lines in the header when the posting provides fields for them. Skills can repeat shoe size only if a bullet also references a booking. Do not rely on a graphic grid for stats the importer expects as text.

Name the agency and city on one line. Use the contact the agency approves for submissions. Do not paste your booker's personal cell if the agency portal already routes you.

Include handles only when the casting notice asks for reach or content work. Put the handle in plain text, not only as an icon. Link the portfolio that casting will actually review.

Use a single-column PDF or DOCX with selectable text for the resume. Attach digitals separately if the form allows. Many HR importers reject a multi-column comp card as the only resume file.
