Your qualifications aren't missing. Lever imported the file in the wrong order, and the recruiter sees a blank experience block. Hospital systems use Lever on many clinical reqs. The parser is picky about headers, tables, and where license abbreviations sit. You can't keyword-stuff your way past that.
Before you re-upload, check your resume for free against the posting. If RN, BLS, or ACLS only appear in a graphic banner or a Skills footer, the checker will flag what Lever will drop on import.
You don't need a new template for every specialty. You need to kill three structural habits that break healthcare files: license lines trapped in headers, shift tables pretending to be experience, and RN/LPN tokens floating outside dated jobs.
This won't fix applying to roles you're not licensed for. It stops a qualified file from dying in the parser before a nurse recruiter ever opens it. Some hospital reqs also ask for a short cover letter in Lever. After your dates import cleanly, generate a cover letter that names your unit type and license state in paragraph one. Don't write a letter that outruns a resume Lever still cannot read.
Do these three things first
- Move RN or LPN license numbers to plain text under your name. Drop header graphics that hide credentials.
- Delete shift tables. Write Night shift, 3x12 on a 28-bed telemetry unit as one line under the job title.
- Put Registered Nurse (RN) inside the Experience job title with Month Year dates on the right.

Healthcare files fail for structure, not because you forgot the word patient care in a Skills row.
Three patterns cause most drops. License lines sit inside a designed header the parser skips. Shift schedule tables break chronological import because dates live in cells, not next to job titles. RN, LPN, or CNA abbreviations scatter in sidebars and footers instead of the dated Experience line where recruiters search first.
You can spot the failure before submit. Upload to Lever, open the application preview, and scroll the imported experience block. If your latest hospital job shows blank dates or the license field is empty, fix structure before you add another keyword.
Edge case: Travel nursing with twelve short assignments. List each contract as its own dated line with agency name and facility in the title. One mega-table of contracts across three columns will still break import.
Edge case: New grad RN with clinical rotations only. Put rotations under Experience with School clinical rotation in the employer field and unit type in the title. Do not bury rotation hours in a paragraph under Education.

Three Lever parsing fixes with before/after pairs
Each pair below is a different clinical lane. Copy the After structure, not every metric. Numbers inside examples illustrate sample bullets, not hiring outcomes.
Fix 1: license lines trapped in the header
Common on template resumes with a colored banner and a logo-style caduceus graphic.

Lever often ignores objects in designed headers. Plain text under the name survives import and fills license fields recruiters filter on.
Fix 2: shift tables instead of dated jobs

One sentence replaces the table. Dates sit on the job line where Lever expects them. Shift detail still visible to humans without breaking cells.
Fix 3: RN/LPN abbreviations outside Experience

Abbreviation in the title line helps keyword search and human skim. Sidebar skills without dates do not repair a missing LPN in the job title.
I've screened Lever imports where the RN license sat inside a header graphic, the shift grid ate the end dates, and the experience block imported as one empty row while the Skills footer listed Epic and patient care twelve times.

If Lever's preview still shows blank dates after this skeleton, switch from PDF to DOCX or remove the last remaining text box.
Four checks before you click submit
- Open Lever's imported preview. Every job from the last five years shows a start and end month.
- License numbers in the preview match the plain contact block, not only a graphic.
- RN or LPN appears in at least one Experience title line, not only in Certifications.
- No tables, columns, or icons remain. Shift pattern is a sentence, not a grid.

Hospital systems often filter on active license and recent acute experience before a human opens the PDF. If Lever's preview shows your license field empty, you may fail knockout screens even when the rest of the file looks fine. Treat the preview as the source of truth, not how the Word doc looks on your screen.
Save a version named for Lever: single column, no text boxes, Calibri or Arial at 11 points, margins at one inch. Keep your designed version for printouts, but upload the boring file to the portal. Recruiters rarely reward pretty layouts when dates do not import.
Parsing mistakes nurses repeat after the first upload fails
The instinct is to add keywords. That rarely fixes Lever when dates never imported. These habits keep qualified clinicians invisible.
Renaming Experience to Clinical Journey or Professional Background. Lever maps standard headings more reliably. Keep Experience and Education labels boring.
Stuffing EMR names into Skills without dated bullets. Epic and Cerner belong under the job where you used them. A footer list does not replace a missing hospital date range.
Uploading a scanned PDF from a hospital credentialing packet. Scans import as images. Retype credentials into a text resume even when the scan looks crisp.
Using two columns to save space. Sidebars push RN tokens out of reading order. Single column only for the Lever upload file.
Listing every certification in the header while omitting expiration months. Recruiters filter on active BLS and ACLS. Plain text with Month Year beats a logo row.
Re-uploading the same broken PDF ten times with a new filename. Fix structure once, preview import, then submit. Repeated uploads without changes do not train the parser.
Combining travel, staff, and per-diem roles into one table to save lines. Split contracts. Lever needs chronological lines, not a spreadsheet of gigs.
Edge case: Charge nurse or preceptor duties listed only in a summary paragraph. Move them under the dated hospital job as bullets so Lever ties leadership to a facility and date range.
Edge case: Compact state license for a border hospital that accepts multistate credentials. List every active state on its own plain line. Do not stack states inside one icon row the parser will skip.
Verify Lever import before the hospital portal closes
You cannot always preview Lever before every apply, but you can mirror its parser habits. Upload your file and run a free ATS check against the posting. Confirm license lines, dates, and RN in job titles appear inside extracted text, not only in graphics.
Fix dates and license placement first. Keyword stuffing after a blank import wastes an evening.
When bullets still read thin after structure is clean, score your job match against the req to see which required unit types or certifications look missing on paper. Match score helps after the parser can read your file, not before.
Re-upload once, correctly
You do not need a new nursing template from Pinterest. You need plain contact text, dated Experience lines, and no shift tables between the parser and your license.
Open your current file. Delete the header graphic. Move RN into the job title. Replace the shift grid with one sentence. Upload to Lever, read the preview, and only then answer knockout questions.
Hospital hiring is stressful enough without fighting a blank import screen. Structure first, keywords second. When the preview shows your last job with dates, check your resume for free against the posting one last time, then submit.

Follow the portal prompt. When both are allowed, DOCX often survives parsing better for healthcare files with simple formatting. PDF is fine when it is a single-column text PDF, not a scan. After upload, open the Lever preview and confirm each license and job date imported before you submit.
No when the structure is broken. Stuffing patient care or EMR terms into a Skills footer does not repair missing dates. Fix headers, tables, and where RN proof lives first. Keywords only help after Lever can read your experience block as chronological text.
